Professor Marguerite Maher has been involved in teaching literacy for over 40
years. She writes chapter books for children who are beginning readers and are not yet quite ready to read chapter books on their own. These books provide reading mileage that children need on their journey to becoming independent readers. Adults and children should share the reading for best outcomes. Additional topics for extension and discussion are provided in each book. These books will help children move more quickly to reading chapter books themselves.
